Hemant loves sports – Amar Jyoti

Dear Erik, Bill and Colleen, Tony, Rao, Tom, Michael, Matt & Alison, Lesley, Kandace, and Judd,

Thank you for coming together to send Hemant to school for an entire year.

Six year old Hemant Khushwah studies in grade one at the integrated school run by Amar Jyoti at Gwalior. Hemant comes from a very poor family. His father is a landless laborer, and his mother is a housewife. Both his parents realize the value of a good education and ensure that Hemant attends school regularly.

Hemant was not a bright student, but after getting individual attention from his teachers has caught up with the rest of the class. He loves drawing and football. He’s also started playing cricket now, as you can see in the picture. The teacher finds Hemant quite a handful sometimes, but sweet-natured, at the same time.
