Varsha is improving with help from her teachers!
posted November 30, 2009

Varsha is a 9 year old girl studying in the special section at Amar Jyoti School. She suffers from cerebral palsy along with mental retardation. As a result, she is wheel chair bound. She is cheerful and enthusiastic and comes to school regularly.
Varsha’s family makes very little money. Her father is a helper in a garment shop and her mother is a house wife. However, they are very motivated to send Varsha to school and help her in everyway they can. She also lives with her grandparents who help take care of her and her brother, who is also speech and hearing impaired.
Varsha only recently started at Amar Jyoti. When she first came to school, she was timid and fearful of the school environment. She needed a lot of individual attention from her teachers.
Varsha has shown improvement in her academics after getting individual attention from her teachers. Now she likes to sit with her classmates and cooperates with her elders. She likes reciting poems and coloring pictures. She participated in “counting games” on Children’s Day at Amar Jyoti School.
Thanks to kind donations from Divya (three months) and John, Monica, Shal, Smita, Jessica, Digvijay, Neetu, Puja and Mohinder (1 month), Varsha will be able to continue her studies and her progress at Amar Jyoti school!
