Gurmeet
Dear Andrea, Samir, Martha, Mrinalini, Mita, Rashmi, Samuel Vimal, Ritu, Vikrant, Jim, and Alpa,

Gurmeet is a 9 year old boy studying in the Special Section at Amar Jyoti School. He is a slow learner but is a cheerful child and likes coming to school. He is eager to learn more, improve his academic performance and get involved in classroom activities.

Gurmeet comes from an economically underprivileged family. His father owns a small tea shop and his mother is a home maker. They are motivated to send Gurmeet to school and help him in everyway they can. Gurmeet’s father regularly visits school to discuss concerns regarding Gurmeet.

Gurmeet was a little below average when he first joined Amar Jyoti. He did not have proper notebooks to do his class work. Also, at times he refused to do his work. He could write letters in sequence in Hindi but had difficulty recognizing them individually. In math he could write numbers in sequence from 1 to 50.

Gurmeet has improved a lot since he joined Amar Jyoti. After getting special attention from his teacher, he has become more sincere towards his studies. In math, he can now do simple addition. In English he is learning to write the alphabet in capitals and lower case letters. In Hindi, he can write three letter words. Gurmeet also enjoys enjoys playing ball and badminton. He is good in music as well and his special interest lies in computers. His teachers note that he is making sincere efforts to improve his academic performance, is gaining confidence, and is getting involved in extracurricular activities.

Thanks to your kind donation, Gurmeet will be able to continue his great progress at Amar Jyoti!
