Lalit blossoms in school

Lalit is studying in nursery at the integrated school run by Amar Jyoti in Gwalior. Lalit comes from family with a very low-income.
When Lalit got admission in the school in grade one, he was very weak in studies, but the personal attention given by the teachers has ensured that his grades have been steadily improving. Both his parents recognize the value of a good education and support him as much as possible.
When Lalit joined the school, he was very reserved, but he has now opened up and has become rather talkative and enthusiastic.

Varsha is a new student at Amar Jyoti

Varsha is a very average student. She lags behind in almost all subjects, and will need individual attention from her teacher. She, however, is keen on learning, and takes an interest in all her classes. She likes interacting with her classmates, and co-operates with her teachers.

Om spread cheer in his Nursery class

Six year old Om Kashyap studies in the integrated school run by Amar Jyoti at Gwalior. He comes from an economically backward family- his father is a tailor, and his mother is a housewife. Though he is a very active and cheerful boy, Om was not very good in studies when he joined.
In the past few months, Om has shown great improvement in his studies. He secured 92% marks and 1st rank in his class in the final examinations. He has been promoted to grade 1 and will be starting the new class in June 2011.
Om loves drawing and singing. He brought honors to the school by winning a prize at a recent interschool competition.

Ishika is a bundle of energy

Nine year old Ishika Rajpoot studies in the integrated school run by Amar Jyoti in Gwalior. She comes from an economically deprived family. Her father is a tailor and her mother is a housewife. Though very active and curious, Ishika was lagging behind the rest of the class when she joined the school.
Ishika has shown marked improvement, and is now one of the better students in her class. In her final examination, she secured 82% marks and 2nd rank in her class. She has been promoted to grade 2 and will be starting the new academic year in June 2011.
She loves dancing, and is also good at drawing. She has represented the school in inter-school competitions and even won a prize. She is a chirpy and active child, who drives her teachers crazy with her incessant chatter.

Sandeep’s parents realize the value of an education

Sandeep is 11 years old and studies in grade 4 at the integrated school run by Amar Jyoti at Gwalior. Sandeep comes from an economically under privileged family- his father is a labour, and his mother is a community teacher at a pre-primary school. They realize the value of a good education, and do their best to ensure that Sandeep attends school regularly. However, because of many extraneous reasons, his attendance continues to be poor, though the school is working hard to ensure that he is regular.
When he joined the school, Sandeep was weak in studies. After getting individual attention from his teachers, he started performing better academically. He secured an overall percentage of 40% in his grade 3 examinations, after which he was promoted to grade 4. He will be starting the new school year in June 2011.
Sandeep loves drawing and is a good singer. He has even won prizes at a local inter school competition.

Altaf loves sports

Altaf, like a typical seven year old, is a bundle of energy. He is always upto mischief, and keeps everyone on their toes. His father struggles to run the household on the meager income he makes as an auto-parts mechanic, and his family could never have afforded to send him to school.
Altaf has been studying at the integrated school run by Amar Jyoti in Gwalior for the past three years, where his tuition fees have always been donated by generous benefactors. When he joined, he was average in studies, but he has put in a lot of effort and his academic results are now excellent. He secured 83% marks in the final examinations in grade one, and stood first in class. He has now been promoted to grade 2, and will be starting the new school year in June 2011.
Altaf is really looking forward to being a “big” boy, and your donations, Ioana & Radu, Leo, Chris, David, Kandace, Lee, Sarah, Ray & Lael, Pradeep, Peter, Peter & Kim, Michael, will enable him to attend school without having to worry about not being able to afford it.

Arti, the talented dancer

Arti is six years old. She comes from an economically deprived family. Her father is a laborer and her mother is a housewife. Both her parents are illiterate.
Arti is in Kindergarten at the integrated school run by Amar Jyoti in Gwalior. When she joined, she was very slow in studies. She was also reserved and shy in nature. Due to the individual attention she received from her teachers, Arti has shown great improvement, though she still has a long way to go before catching up with the best in the class. Arti draws very well, and is a talented dancer.

Manav is determined to learn

His father is a landless laborer, and his mother works as a domestic worker to make both ends meet. Both his parents realize the value of a good education and ensure that Manav attends school regularly.
Manav was not a bright student, but after getting individual attention from his teachers has caught up with the rest of the class. He loves dancing and drawing. He participates very enthusiastically in all the activities of the class, and dreams of representing his school at inter-school competitions.

Khusboo is a good student

Ten year old Khusboo Rajpoot is studying in grade 3 at the integrated school run by Amar Jyoti in Gwalior. She comes from an economically underprivileged background- her father is a driver, and her mother is a housewife.
When Khusboo joined the school, she was an average student, and was also very reserved in nature. She has shown great improvement in studies, and is good in all subjects. She is also very talented- she draws well and is a good singer and dancer who has even won prizes in inter school competitions.

Kalpana has a smile for everyone

Seven year old, Kalpana Prajapati, is in Nursery at the integrated school run by Amar Jyoti at Gwalior. Her father is a helper in the school bus and her mother is a housewife. They cannot afford to send Kalpana to school. They, however, realize the value of an education, and ensure that her attendance is regular.
Though much older than them, Kalpana was far behind the other children in her class when she joined the school. She has however picked up things fast, and shows great interest in learning new things. She is an active child, who has a smile for everyone.
Kalpana is a good singer and loves drawing. She recently won a prize in an inter school competition. She also loves playing basketball, and it out on the grounds attempting to dribble a ball whenever she has a free period.
