Ainama takes a great interest in her education

Amar Jyoti serves about 700 children in Delhi, India through its unparalleled educational system in which children with and without disabilities learn together. In addition to their academic services, the school campuses also offer physical therapy, family counseling, vocational training, and health services.

Ainama is seven years old and a student in the special class as she is hearing impaired. She belongs to a low income group family that lives in a small rented house. Her father passed away from electric shock while her mother is illiterate and unable to earn money for her children. Ainama’s maternal uncle looks after the family.

When Ainama joined Amar Jyoti, she was slow in her studies and other work. Since that time, she has taken a great interest in her education and learns through sign language.

Your donation supported someone like Sanjana, a six year old girl in kindergarten at Amar Jyoti. Sanjana is a very active and smart girl from a low-income family. Her father is a pedicab driver while her mother is a housewife.

Sanjana struggled with her studies when she first joined the school but has since shown improvement in all subjects. She receives individual attention from her teacher and is now equal to her peers.

Another happy student

Dear Randy,

Prince is four years old and is in pre-school at Amar Jyoti. Prince lives in Delhi with his parents, who are farmers. Due to their poor economic background, his parents cannot afford the costs of tuition for him to attend school.

Amar Jyoti provides schooling for children in need. When Prince first joined Amar Jyoti’s pre-school, he was behind in his classwork and had little schooling experience. Now, Prince is caught up in all subjects and loves to play outside.

Six year old Prashant hails from a low income family in Gwalior, a city in Madhya Pradesh, India. His family struggles financially; his father works in a private company and his mother is a housewife. Prashant has one sister as well.

When Prashant joined the special classes conducted by Amar Jyoti in Gwalior, he was very reserved and shy. He is a very sincere student and does well in all the subjects. In addition to being a good student, Prashant dances very well and loves drawing.

When Yogita joined the Jyoti school, she struggled with her studies and did not show any interest in her education. Now she is learning Hindi, English and math — her grades have improved as well. Yogita is good at drawing and likes to dance when she is not in class.

Pinky is a 12 year old student in the special class (HI-B) at the Jyoti School. She is a thin but active girl and hearing impaired. Pinky’s family comes from a low income group. Her father is a farmer and has to rely on unpredictable daily wages. His living and economic conditions are not good yet the entire family depends on her father’s income to survive.

When Pinky first joined the Amar Jyoti school, she struggled with her studies and took other activities at a slow pace. Since that first day, she is greatly improved and is succeeding in all her studies. Pinky loves to draw and chooses to do so during their free time.

Krishna is four years old and a new member of the nursery class at the Jyoti school. He is a smart and sweet boy from an under-privileged family. His father is a farmer and can only afford a small house to shelter his family.

When Krishna first arrived at Jyoti, he was slow with his work and had weak grades. Yet gradually, he has shown improvement and has even caught up with his peers. Individual attention from his teacher helps this process. Outside of class, Krishna likes to color pictures.
