Vocational training
Besides academics, vocational training forms an important part of the school curriculum. This training is especially beneficial for children with disabilities because it helps them become financially self-reliant. Vocational training is imparted in the following fields – tailoring, beauty culture, computers, electrical repairs, carpentry, arts & crafts and baking.

Special Classes
Hearing impaired children are placed in integrated classes after an initial training in the alphabet and numbers through lip reading and sign language. Similarly, visually impaired children are given Braille training in the alphabet and numbers before they are intergrated.
All this is made possible by a teaching and administrative staff that is dedicated to the cause of inclusive education.

Mrs. Shehnaz Parveen has been teaching at Amar Jyoti for the last 20 years. She teaches the integrated classes as well as the special class for visually impaired children.
